Tables For Two (Atmospheric Blues Ballad) (Atmos... ALERTON Studio

Little café by the river, in the shadow of the plane trees
I still sit there in October, when the autumn brings the breeze
I remember how you′d laugh and steal the sugar from my cup
Now the waitress doesn′t ask — she just fills my coffee up

Little café by the river, I went back last year in spring
Through the window I could see the same old crack in the door′s hinge
I saw him sitting in our corner, staring at the empty chair
I almost walked in — but I stopped right there

Oh, the tables for two are still waiting
Same old menu, same old fading afternoon
We still live inside that little cafe
You and me beneath the same old moon
Just not together — too soon

Young moms come in with their strollers, kids run for the Coca-Cola
Old postman tips his hat and orders something cold or warmer
Everyone is chasing something, everyone is passing through
I′m still chasing the ghost of you

I saw a girl with flowers waiting, checking her phone nervously
And I remembered how I′d wait for you, how patient love could be
He never showed, she never cried — just left a rose and walked away
That was me, just yesterday

Do you ever walk by?
I drive the other way
Do you ever wonder why?
I wonder every day
Do you still love me?
Don′t ask me that
The café′s still there
So is the past

Oh, the tables for two are still waiting
Same old menu, same old fading light
We still live inside that little cafe
You and me, we just got lost in flight
Not together — but still in sight

Little café... by the river
I′ll see you there... someday
This little café... by the river
I′ll see you there... someday
